he Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) apprehended the head of the Mataram Immigration Office in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), along with several other officials, for alleged involvement in the illegal extension of tourist visas.
The Mataram Immigration Office's administrative division head Denny Chrisdian confirmed that a team of investigators from the KPK had arrested his superior, Kurniadie in the early hours of Tuesday.
“It is true that the KPK has taken the immigration office head into custody for questioning. The KPK has also sealed several rooms in the building, including Kurniadie’s private office, the immigration intelligence [Inteldakim] division head office, and the immigration investigation [BAP] division head office earlier in the morning,” Denny told a press conference, adding that he expected immigration-related services to run as usual despite the arrests.
He went on to say that the KPK had also taken into custody several other immigration officials prior to Kurniadie’s arrest.
The KPK nabbed Mataram Immigration Office employee Ayyub Abdul Musqith following an iftar feast attended by a group of colleagues at a restaurant in Cakranegara district, Mataram on Monday afternoon, Denny said.
KPK investigators then proceeded to arrest the Mataram Immigration Office’s Inteldakim division head Yusriansyah Fazrin at a coffee shop in the city later that evening, he said.
“The immigration office head was then arrested at his official residence in Kekalik subdistrict in the early hours of Tuesday at around 2 p.m.,” Denny said.
