A

visually impaired man named Fazlur Rahman staged a solo protest in front of the Transportation Ministry office in Central Jakarta on Wednesday demanding better treatment for people with disabilities on public transportation.

He staged the protest after accidentally falling through a platform gap when trying to board a train at Cikini Station, Central Jakarta, on Nov 17.

Fazlur said he was trying to board a train bound for Bekasi, West Java.

Everything went well at the beginning. After arriving at the main entrance of Cikini Station, he was guided by a station employee to the platform.

When the train arrived, the employee then led him to a train door and asked him to board the train. However, when trying to enter the train, Fazlur accidentally slipped and fell into the gap between the platform and the train.

Fazlur, who is a graduate student of private-run University of Muhammadiyah Prof. Dr. Hamka majoring in Indonesian Language, said he felt a sudden panic after falling onto the railway track and tried to get back onto the platform.

"I panicked and felt a mixture of feelings hitting me. At that time, I could not feel any pain yet. The only thing I had in my mind was a sense of panic, that's all," Fazlur said as reported by kompas.com.
