View all search resultsThe tobacco industry is up in arms over a new set of rules that could cover everything from packaging and tar and nicotine content to additives, not least because of a lack of clarity from the government for the past two years until its issuance deadline on Sunday.
The Indonesian Quarantine Agency (Barantin) said it is currently simplifying 22 agency regulations and coordinating with multiple ministries to implement a single submission and single inspection system.
Danang Girindrawardana, executive director of the Indonesian Textile Association (API), said that local business community had also conveyed similar complaints to the government but did not receive an adequate response.
Businesses have urged the government to stick to the formula set out under Government Regulation No. 51/2023, which ties wage adjustments to regional economic growth, inflation and an index capturing local productivity and business capacity.
