View all search resultsIt is common knowledge how tobacco industry has used deception, lies and misleading branding, marketing, sponsorship, advertising and promotion (despite ban on advertising) to hook new children and young people into addiction so that its cash registers keep ringing (while millions keep dying from its products every year).
In March 2019, Statistics Indonesia (BPS) showed that households below the poverty line in cities spent 12.2 percent of their total expenditure on cigarettes, more than their spending on protein such as eggs and chicken, which was below 5 percent.
iQos, an electronic device, was introduced by Sampoerna’s owner, Philip Morris, in 2014. Instead of burning tobacco like conventional cigarettes, the device heats it and generates a smoke-free nicotine-filled vapor when inhaled.
