Takalar regent detained for alleged corruption
The South Sulawesi Prosecutor’s Office (Kejati) has detained outgoing Takalar regent Burhanuddin Baharuddin at the Makassar Detention Center in South Sulawesi. Burhanuddin has been named a suspect in a case where he allegedly abused his authority in the sale of state land worth Rp 17 billion (US$1.26 million).

Ahok, other prisoners barred from Independence Day event
Former Jakarta governor Basuki Tjahaja "Ahok" Purnama was not allowed to join a flag-hoisting ceremony held on Thursday to celebrate the country's independence at the National Police Mobile Brigade (Brimob) detention center, where he serves his jail term.
