View all search resultsResponding to reports of bad behavior and criminal activities allegedly committed by Russian and Ukrainian tourists, Bali Governor Wayan Koster has proposed to the Foreign Ministry and the Law and Human Rights Ministry that the visa-on-arrival policy for visitors from those two countries be terminated.
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has said that he is not worried about a possible surge of COVID-19 infections from foreign tourists amid concerns of surging of cases in China, which has decided to relax its strict pandemic measures.
The plan comes as Japan has begun to ease the border controls it introduced in response to the coronavirus pandemic. The government may accept a limited number of group tours on a trial basis by the end of May, the source added.
The government waived the mandatory quarantine for fully vaccinated international visitors to popular tourist destination Bali on Monday, as it seeks to loosen requirements in other parts of the country by April 1.
