View all search resultsOnly 10 percent of sidewalks in Jakarta have been deemed adequate, most of which are also located along main thoroughfares like Jl. Sudirman and Jl. Thamrin, the head of the Indonesian Association of Planners (IAP) has said.
The Jakarta administration is set to take down office building fences and relocate 3,000 trees planted along Jl. MH Thamrin and Jl. Sudirman in Central and South Jakarta to pave the way for wider sidewalks along the two city’s main roads.
Women in high heels and people with disabilities will soon find it more comfortable to walk along the sidewalks in North Jakarta, as the municipality is building sidewalks especially designed to cater to their needs.
