View all search resultsIndonesia passsed the convention into law on July 24, 1984 under Law No. 7/1984. Since then the convention became legally binding and mandated Indonesia to take efforts to eliminate gender-based discrimination against women and to report its progress.
Protesters gathered at the Elections Supervisory Agency headquarters in Central Jakarta and marched from there to the nearby State Palace. They carried flags and posters with various messages such as “Let’s smash the heteropatriarchy”, “I hate patriarchy, not men”, and “Pass the sexual violence bill, reject the job creation omnibus law”.
I was coached by my mum from a young age and have had good experiences with female coaches throughout my tennis career. But when I became professional, I noticed that basically every male player had a male coach and, in most cases, a male support team.
As a female politician, the family resilience bill has made me wonder, is it time to reevaluate the 30 percent gender quota because the increasing number of women representation in the highest legislative body has not helped to significantly produce more gender-responsive policies?
