he state-owned Chinese construction firm that built the bridge linking the islands of Java and Madura is looking for similar projects to connect other parts of the archipelago.

China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) spokesperson Zha Changmiao said on Tuesday that the company was bidding for a new project in Indonesia, but he did not disclose the location.

“We are also negotiating with the Indonesian government, and we hope to accomplish the goal and support you in terms of technology in these huge projects, so this can be done in a very fast time,” Changmiao said in Changsha in China’s Hunan province.

“We hope we can fulfill the hope of your President [Joko “Jokowi” Widodo] to build a maritime road bridge connecting different ports,” he added.

CCCC has carried out many infrastructure projects in China and other countries, including bridges, highways and ports.
