Govt vows to expedite permits for international events with online licensing
Previously there were many cases when event organizers received their license just a day before the due date or even just hours before the event started.

he government has promised organizers would have better certainty regarding permits for international and national events held in the country, as it banks on a newly launched online system that would standardize licensing issuance.
Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, coordinating maritime affairs and investment minister, said the system, would ensure organizers received their license 21 days before the due date of any international events. For national events, it would be 14 days before.
“There will be no permits issued just a day before the event or even few hours before,” Luhut said at the launch on Monday, as quoted by Detik.

Indonesia is planning to host more international events to lure foreign tourists to the country, including lucrative concerts like Taylor Swift’s six-day show in neighboring Singapore as well as notable sport events, such as Formula 1 and Moto GP.
The Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) has frequently called on the government to prioritize holding more international and national events in the country to attract visitors for meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE).
The senior minister explained that the system would halve the data entry needed for licenses to 33 files from the previous 63 as well as cut the required attachments to only two documents from previously nine.
