he government has almost reached its rooftop solar panel installation limit for this year, the Energy and Minerals Resources Ministry has said, implying high demand from both businesses and households.

The Java-Bali grid saw the lion’s share of installations, accounting for 825 MW of the total quota. The remaining capacity was distributed across 10 other grids.
“Rooftop solar power panels are selling well. Now, only 90 MW [of the quota] is left,” Eniya said on the sidelines of the Indonesia Net-Zero Summit in Jakarta on Saturday, as quoted by Bisnis.

The government claims the quota will protect PLN from the risks of renewable energy intermittency.
The cap was stipulated in Energy and Mineral Resources Ministerial Regulation No. 2/2024, which revised a 2021 regulation that did not contain a quota system.
