Coming from a Qatari private entity, the investment is estimated at US$16,000 to $20,000 per apartment unit.
atar is expected to invest up to US$20 billion to build 1 million apartment units in cities across Indonesia, national housing task force head Hashim Djojohadikusumo said on Monday, which would help realize President Prabowo Subianto’s flagship program.
Coming from a Qatari private entity, the investment is estimated at $16,000 to $20,000 per apartment unit. The government hopes the investor would build 1 million units.
“And from the Qatari government, it has announced [to invest in] 3 to 5 million in houses and apartments,” Hashim, who is also Prabowo’s younger brother, told reporters in Jakarta on Monday.
He went on to say that the Qatari government would help finance housing units in villages and cities, with the former expected to cost approximately Rp 75 million [US$4,575] per unit, while the latter would cost from $18,000 to $20,000 per unit.
“So, tens of billions of dollars [worth of investment], that’s from the [Qatari] government,” he said.
