The General Elections Commission (KPU) says the delay in updating the 2024 general elections vote count on Sirekap is for the sake of data synchronization and accuracy.
The official integrated vote-counting and tabulating app Sirekap is displaying delayed data because the staff are synchronizing the vote tally, General Elections Commission (KPU) commissioner Idham Holik said on Monday.
The data displayed on Sirekap has not been updated since Sunday.
"Sirekap is being [made more] accurate to make the process smoother. For the time being, the public display [on the website] is still using the last display from the day before yesterday [Saturday]," Idham said as reported by Antara news agency.
He added that the vote synchronization had to be done to ensure that all data recorded in Sirekap was accurate. Therefore, the public could get an accurate vote tally from the KPU’s official website.
He acknowledged that district election committee (PPK) officials found several problems while inputting data to Sirekap.
One problem was that handwritten numbers on the C1 forms containing the results from polling stations (TPS) could not be captured clearly using the KPU’s camera technology.
Sirekap uses optical mark recognition (OMR) and optical character recognition (OCR) in processing pictures of handwritten C1 forms into numeric data.
