Health Minister Nila F. Moeloek said she appreciated Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Susi Pudjiastuti's efforts to stop smoking.
'I have thanked her [Susi] because her intention to stop smoking is not only good for her health, but will also have a wider impact on people,' she said on Wednesday.
She explained that the intention to stop smoking could not be forced by outsiders, as such a motivation had to come from smokers themselves.
'The most important thing is that youths are not educated to be smokers,' she said.
Last Saturday, Susi told residents that she was trying to stop her smoking habit during a visit to her hometown of Pangandaran, West Java.
Your comments:
Good luck Susi, from someone who has been there. More so, I am deeply impressed by your calling in of ambassadors over the plundering of Indonesian fishing waters.

I am a nonsmoker but I would like to say this: whether I smoke or not is none of anyone's business.
Under our Constitution, everyone has a right to do what he wishes but yet there are people who continue to air their comments on Mbak Susi.
Yes, writing a note is easy ' but how about telling someone on the street not to smoke? Tried that before? If not, try it out tomorrow.
Now my final question: What would be your reaction if our President was a smoker? Keep quiet or kick up a big row?

Good luck with giving up smoking. It's not an easy thing to do. Maybe she could try vaping instead.
It's the only thing that worked for me. But really, whether she smoked or not is hardly relevant to how well she does her job. I wish her all the best.

For a hard-working, brave, extremely brilliant and tough woman like you, I can't think of anything else but your achievement.

I appreciate Susi's efforts to stop smoking. As we know that she is a minister right now, everyone will pay attention to what she does.
She is also a very inspiring woman. Many women are inspired by her because she is the first minister who has not graduated from senior high school.
She is proof that hard work will bring us success.
