aya Raya badminton club has opened the Jaya Raya Indoor Stadium in Ciputat, South Tangerang, Banten, to groom young talent aged between 12 and 18-years-old.
The new facility — which backs the Rudy Hartono Indoor Stadium in Ragunan, South Jakarta — stands on 1.3-hectares of land. It offers 16 courts in the 4,583-meter square building, which is equipped with a 500-seat tribune for spectators. The facility also provides a fitness center, 10 class rooms, a library and a cafeteria.
Elsewhere in the facility, a three-story dormitory, with 25 rooms for boys and another 25 rooms for girls, accommodates up to 132 athletes. The dorm is complete with a dining room, a kitchen and a laundry room.
All athletes attending the training program will go to special formal schools with curriculum set by Pembangunan Jaya School — in hopes that they can earn junior high school and senior high school diplomas on the sidelines of their tight routines.
Youth and Sports Minister Imam Nahrawi, who officiated the stadium on Thursday, said in a statement that he hopes the badminton club would give birth to more future world champions.
