View all search resultsMalaysia on Friday warned residents of high pollution levels in most areas on the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia and the western Kalimantan region of Sarawak, blaming trans-boundary haze from Indonesia, its Department of Environment said in a statement.
Thick haze has blanketed parts of Sumatra and Kalimantan as fires continue to rage, in part due to El Niño, and affected regions have started imposing measures to anticipate related health impacts, including a mask mandate for schools.
