Indonesia, through the public housing ministry, has inked an MoU with a Qatari investment firm for an undisclosed amount to help fund the government's mega housing project, which aims to build 3 million homes per year.
In late October, Public Housing and Settlements Minister Maruarar Sirait estimated the ministry would need over Rp 23 trillion (US$1.44 billion) to meet the needs of the housing program annually, but for next year the Finance Ministry has only earmarked Rp 5 trillion.
The Gulf country has been working alongside the United States and Egypt for months on fruitless talks between the warring sides in Gaza and any disengagement from that process could further complicate efforts to reach a deal.
The agricultural minister says Qatari dairy giant Baladna has expressed interest in supplying milk as well as investing in Indonesia's dairy industry to help support Prabowo's flagship program, which is projected to need 3 million tonnes of imported milk to meet its distribution target next year.
