View all search resultsIndonesia, the world's top palm oil producer, launched the moratorium in September 2018 to try to stop deforestation caused by palm oil, while seeking to boost output from existing cultivated areas. The moratorium ends on Sept. 19.
Health Minister Greg Hunt said health officials had advised the government "the Covid-19 situation overseas continues to pose an unacceptable public health risk to Australia, including the emergence of more highly transmissible variants".
As a consequence of this extension, the city administration would delay further relaxations, such as the reopening of movie theaters, that were initially scheduled to be implemented at the end of July, said Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan.
