View all search resultsThe members of the House of Representatives who proposed the much-maligned family resilience bill seem to have overlooked the problems with drafting a law that is not only overly intrusive and largely unnecessary but also utterly impossible to enforce.
Article 29 of the draft bill, a copy of which has been obtained by The Jakarta Post, stipulates that the aforementioned offices are obligated to give female workers their right to “get maternity leave for six months without losing their right to salary and position.”
Article 31 of the draft bill stipulates that no one may sell or purchase sperm or egg cells, voluntarily donate sperm or egg cells, or accept sperm or egg cells independently or through institutional intermediaries for the purpose of conceiving offspring.
The bill defines sexual deviance as “sexual urges and satisfaction that are shown in uncommon and unnatural ways,” lumping in sexual sadism, masochism and homosexuality together with incest.
A draft bill on family resilience proposed by members of the House of Representatives defines homosexuality as sexual deviance and requires lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people to report to authorities for rehabilitation.
