Puncak Jaya’s regional election has been fiercely contested between former regent Yuni Wonda and his running mate Mus Kogoya, and Deputy Speaker of the Puncak Jaya Legislative Council (DPRD) Miren Kogoya and his running mate Wendi.
While all regional heads sworn in on Feb. 20 will be inaugurated by Prabowo, only governors will be inducted by the President in a ceremony after the Feb. 24 ruling hearing. The elected regents and mayors will be inaugurated by their respective governors.
Coordinating Law, Human Rights, Immigration and Correctional Services Minister Yusril Ihza Mahendra said that the planned retreat would be a forum for President Prabowo to brief the local heads on his agenda and how to implement it at the local level.
