View all search resultsThe Rokan Hilir Police's special crimes unit has named a local businessman as a suspect in a forest encroachment case and charged him with articles that carry a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a Rp 10 billion (US$560,968) fine.
The defendants allegedly dismantled posts and destroyed equipment and other property belonging to the Forest Enforcement Task Force (PKH) causing estimated state losses of around Rp 50 million.
Earlier in the year, BPBDs across Riau were fighting forest fires because of a forecasted long dry season but high rainfall in the past few days has swept most of forest and land fires and caused flooding, instead.
