P

resident Prabowo Subianto has approved a plan to earmark Rp 48.8 trillion (US$2.98 billion) from the state budget to support the future capital city development in East Kalimantan for the next five years, Coordinating Infrastructure and Regional Development Minister Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono said.

The budget, proposed by the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) Authority, would include allotments to build legislative, judiciary buildings and other facilities as well as to fund building maintenance.

The planned budget would mark a decline from the Rp 75 trillion allocated for IKN development from 2022 and 2024 in the previous administration.

“Of course, some are sourced from the state budget, while others are sourced from non-state budget sources […] We also hope that the private sector can contribute positively and of course be well integrated,” Agus said on Tuesday after a limited meeting at the State Palace in Jakarta

IKN Authority head Basuki Hadimuljono, Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo and Publilc Housing and Settlements Minister Maruarar Sirait were also present at the meeting.

Dody said on the same day that Prabowo is to begin working at the future capital city Nusantara by 2028, or at the latest by 2029.
