ndonesian Military (TNI) Commander Admiral Yudo Margono said the revision of the TNI Law was still in its preliminary stage and that some of the details currently being debated by experts and activists were classified materials not for public consumption.

Yudo said some details in the planned revision could have been leaked by unknown parties privy to discussions over the issue.

"We're still in the very, very early stages of the discussion. Some of the details should not be available to the public. I don't know how they got out," Yudo told reporters on Monday.

Yudo, however, deemed the public debate over the planned amendment of Law No. 34/2004 following the leak as a sign of the public trust in the military.

"I personally thank the public for all the responses. This shows that the public still loves the TNI," Yudo said.

The legal division of the TNI is working on a draft to amend the current military law to allow for greater participation of both active and retired military officers in politics and bureaucracy.
