Whitesnake invites Jokowi to its show at JogjaROCKarta

Whitesnake frontman David Coverdale took to Twitter to invite 'rock fan' Jokowi to his band's performance at JogjaROCKarta on March 1.

ritish hard rock band Whitesnake has invited President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo to its performance at the upcoming JogjaROCKarta music festival.

The festival is to be held at Kridosono Stadium in Yogyakarta on March 1.

“Hi Mr. President, it’s such an honor. […] I’d like to invite you down to our rock show at the world-famous Indonesian rock festival on March 1,” Whitesnake vocalist David Coverdale said in a video uploaded to Twitter on Friday by Anas Syahrul Alimi, CEO of the music festival's promoter Rajawali Indonesia Communication. “I’ve heard that you’re a big rock fan, and it’d be such an honor to see you and play for you and your beautiful people.”

According to kompas.com, the event will be the band's debut performance in Indonesia.

Founded in 1978, Whitesnake consists of David Coverdale, Reb Beach and Joel Hoekstra on guitars, Michael Devin on the bass, Tommy Aldridge on drum and Michele Luppi on the keyboard.

JogjaROCKarta will also feature other rock bands, including Scorpions, Godbless, Powerslaves and Navicula.

Tickets to the show are available online at bookmyshow.com with starting price at Rp 517,500 (US$37.94). (wir/kes)
