Senior comedian Ferrasta Soebardi, alias Pepeng Jari-jari, died at the Puri Cinere Hospital in Depok, West Java, on Wednesday.

Sys NS, an actor who is close to Pepeng, said that the comedian, who had been battling a chronic disease, was rushed to the hospital at 2:00 a.m., and died at 10:05 a.m.

'€œI am very happy to have had him as a good friend because he was always cheerful and never complained about his disease,'€ he said.

Benz Leo, another actor who is close to Pepeng, said Pepeng, born in Sumenep, Madura, East Java, in 1954, was an inspiring figure, because even while bedridden, he never complained about his condition and remained productive as a comedian and a cartoonist.

'€œI knew he was in a critical condition when I brought my wife to work as a doctor at the hospital. I visited him at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and I was the last person, besides his wife and son, who shook hands with him before he died,'€ he said. (rms)(+++)
