According to authorities, the Tunu Pratama Jaya ferry departed Ketapang Port at 10:56 p.m. carrying 53 passengers and 12 crew members. Just 24 minutes into its journey, however, the vessel sent a distress call to Ketapang port officials, reporting there was a leak in its engine room.
