State energy holding company Pertamina will allocate at least US$2.5 billion to develop its upstream sector next year, a roughly 8 percent increase from this year’s investment target of $2.3 billion, a company official has said.
The House of Representatives' budget committee on Wednesday approved oil and gas upstream revenue at US$15.2 billion in 2019, the figure proposed by the government, which is 27 percent higher than last year’s realization at $11.9 billion.
The Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Special Task Force (SKKMigas) announced that the realization of the oil and gas upstream business only reached US$3.7 billion as of May or 26 percent from the $14.2 billion targeted in the 2018 state budget.
Oil and gas players have welcomed the government’s decision to simplify the audit of upstream oil and gas activities under the cost-recovery scheme, saying that it will lead to higher efficiency and subsequently improve the business climate.
