The BMKG has warned that the majority of regions are entering the rainy season and forecast a 20 percent increase in rainfall intensity due to a weak La Niña, which typically brings a wetter rainy season with heavier rainfall to the country.
The regency administration as well as the local disaster agency are working together to manage the impacts of series of natural disasters, including flooding, landslides and a minor earthquake, through measures such as online learning, home repair assistance and planned relocation in up to 18 affected districts.
Some 30 percent of 25,223 polling stations in North Sumatra failed to carry out the voting process after heavy rainfall triggered massive floods and landslides in various parts of the province.
