View all search resultsJakarta Deputy Governor Sandiaga Uno claimed on Thursday that the expansion of sidewalks along Jl. Sudirman and Jl. M.H. Thamrin in Central Jakarta will be finished and open to the public by the end of July despite construction still being underway.
Jakarta Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat said that on top of opening a bicycle lane along Jl. Sudirman and Jl. MH Thamrin, the city government plans to open a bike rental service to cater to the needs of office workers in the city's busiest business district.
The Jakarta administration is set to take down office building fences and relocate 3,000 trees planted along Jl. MH Thamrin and Jl. Sudirman in Central and South Jakarta to pave the way for wider sidewalks along the two city’s main roads.
A recent action by Alfini Lestari, who blocked motorcycle riders as they attempted to drive on the sidewalk of Jl. MH Thamrin in Central Jakarta, attracted widespread praise because the rampant invasion of pedestrian areas by motorists has for a long time bothered many pedestrians. And, of course, everyone is affected because all of us are pedestrians.
